The summer of 2016 while vacationing with my sister's family on Pawleys Island I saw this scene looking south on Spring Avenue, but as I looked north there were no power poles at all. I did this painting from the point where hurricane Hugo cut the island in half some years back. They filled back in the island but to the north of this point it was decided to run the power underground when replacing the lines. The repetition of the power poles and the power lines is what made this scene interesting. This painting was accepted into the Rockies West National Exhibition which ran from February 28 till April 1, 2017 and was judged by Ian Stewart. This painting was also in the Georgia Watercolor Society Member Exhibition at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center in Gainesville, from August 17 and running through October 7th. Jeannie McGuire was the juror.
